South Salem is a town that sits at the northeast corner of Westchester County, New York. It is considered is one of the most celebrated horse farm towns in the country, hosting many national competitions. it is home to some of the top trainers and riders in the world, containing nearly as many horses as people.
The town consists of four hamlets: Purdys and Croton Falls, Salem Center and South Salem east of the reservoir.
The town has a small city center. Residents are content to leave its borders for their commercial needs, in neighboring towns such as Ridgefield preferring to maintain the precious rural countryside open space atmosphere. The South Salem School system has received the “Schools of Excellence” designation. The town’s privacy and beauty have made South Salem a convenient country get away for some of NYC’s high profile residents.
It takes about an hour and 20 minutes to get from SouthSalem to Grand Central via Metro-North at from train stations at Purdy’s or Croton Falls. South Salem is a wonderful place to raise a family, a haven for children and pets.
South Salem is a very clean and quite town, it is known as horse country.There are more than 100 miles of riding trails and rolling hills. Although it’s rural it is not hard to find a few exquisite antique shops or top-notch restaurants.
