Bedford is a town located in northern Westchester County, New York, which encompasses the areas of Bedford Village, Bedford Hills and Katonah. The Bedford area, is most known for its horse farms and large country estates, (boasts over 130 miles of equestrian trails) and wealthy celebrity residents. The heart of it is centered around the 3-square-mile Bedford Village—a plot of land purchased by a group of Puritan men in 1680 which is on the National Register of Historic Places.
Though Bedford is famous for its multi-million dollar manors and famous property owners (who include Bruce Willis, Ryan Reynolds, Martha Stewart, Ralph Lauren, and Glenn Close), you can still find a few more affordable colonials and ranches suitable for first-time buyers.
It takes about an hour to get from Bedford to Grand Central via Metro-North.
